PILATES

Classical Pilates Mat (Level 2-3)

Classical Pilates Mat w/ Foundations designed for everybody! Be ready…this is Not a class to breeze through, Concentration, Control and Consistency play important roles here…focus on self-imposed contractions and working from your center-line. An efficient and effective sequential class that sprinkles in needed Fundamentals and Beg/Intermediate exercises. Work at your Level and enjoy movement and full body conditioning…work towards Flow and Precision, utilizing the Pilates Breathing, lateral ribcage breathing techniques. All ages welcome. Please use props to support your head and neck if you are new to this class and discuss any issues with the teacher prior to class.

Mixed Apparatus (all equipment used!)

Join this fun, educational and challenging Mixed Apparatus (Equipment) class. You will enjoy the work on different pieces of pilates equipment (the apparatus) each week building a repertoire to enhance your practice! You will start in group room at times and move into the apparatus studio, be ready for anything goes!

Group Reformer (Level 1-2)

This student is prepared to join a group after private or duet sessions on the reformer apparatus. Is injury free but working at comfortable point of control. (Level 2) This class is designed for an intermediate student with reformer, tower, chair and jumpboard experience. Both class require mind & body connections with the PowerHouse. Learn classical & contemporary sequences and challenge your pilates principles. If you desire more strength, knowledge of the apparatus and can work independently with guidance, then this is the class for you! Flow and technique are taught; concentration, control and coordination will improve. Invitation: Following this class, You are welcome to join the 1/2 hour Restorative Yoga session that follows…private entry $25 Note: 3-4 per class at $40 each with package, $45 drop-in. If one or two clients show, you may cancel or take a private from the teacher for $85. 2 people $70 each

Pilates HIIT

Add High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to your Pilates Workout. High Intensity Pilates is a 60-minute workout that takes your Pilates mat program to the highest level. High Intensity Pilates combines the amazingly effective technique known as ‘High-Intensity Interval Training’ (HIIT) with a complete Pilates mat program for everything your body needs – stretching, strength training, and cardio – in one quick and intense workout. Very few exercise methods enable you to integrate HIIT.

Research shows that HIIT is one of the most effective forms of exercise – better than aerobics or cardio for burning calories, building endurance, and boosting metabolism. PLUS, studies show that HIIT stimulates the growth hormone HGH which is now under intense study as a promising anti-aging compound.

Take your pilates knowledge to another level with this Banyan Tree Signature Class with various apparatus…Tower (1/2 Cadillac) MVe Chair and Matwork combo class. Taught by experienced teachers, you will move seamlessly through Intermediate excercises on various apparatus for a complete body workout…know your powerhouse connections, principles and most of all point of control…sign up today, for safety reasons, space is limited to 4 teacher approved participants.

YOGA

Vinyasa / Yoga Flow Class

Ashtanga inspired sequencing, mixed-level yoga What is FLOW: Yoga is educated movement that heightens vitality in the body. In this class, we’ll flow in a sequence that focuses on structural alignment while weaving together the importance of connecting breath to maximize strength, flexibility and stamina. Allow yourself to experience a calm mind and overall awareness, class is recommended for students ready move into a stronger sense of endurance as well as seasoned practitioners. Music played, modifications offered, + smiles encouraged.Come with a beginners mind and just experience a non-competitive way to enhance your fitness program. Pre-requisites: Must be able to get on and off the floor safely and hold a plank position for at least 10 seconds. Please address any concerns 10 minutes prior to attending for your best experience in class.

Mixed Level Yoga

Join us for a well-balanced traditional Hatha Yoga class for all levels of fitness and Yoga experience. Standing, sitting, supine and prone postures introduced at a slower pace, breathing will be encouraged as you increase bloodflow, reduce tension and lengthen your body. A hatha class will likely be a slow-paced stretching class with some simple breathing exercises and meditation. This is a good place to learn beginners’ poses, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with yoga. Bring only yourself…we have all you need!

Gentle Yoga

Slow standing postures with careful cueing and balancing focus with a compassionate approach and emphasis on meditation, physical healing and spiritual transformation that overflows into daily life. In a Gentle class, each student learns to find their own level of practice on a given day by looking inward. The classes usually begin with breathing exercises and gentle stretches followed by a series of individual poses and final relaxation In gentle or restorative yoga, props are used for support the body so that you can hold poses for longer, allowing you to open your body through passive stretching. The postures are usually adapted from supine or seated yoga poses with the addition of blocks, bolsters, and blankets to eliminate unnecessary straining. For instance, a seated forward bend (paschimottanasana) can be done with a bolster or several folded blankets on top of the legs so that your forward bend is fully supported with the entire torso resting on your props. Legs up the wall (viparita karani) is a classic restorative, with the wall used as a prop to support the legs. This Gentle restorative class is usually very relaxing and a good complement to more active practices or post-tennis and golf.

Banyan Yoga (Ashtanga Inspired)

Join Virginia for this Ashtanga Rooted & Inspired Class for those with a home practice. Surya Namaskara A and the 1st six Standing Postures from the Ashtanga Vinyasa Method are used as the main asana practice. Need 3 to hold class on schedule, register now!

ADDITIONAL GROUP CLASSES

Cycle 60

Indoor Cycling/Spinning with warm-up and cool-down phases. High energy instruction and music; explore Flats, hills and intervals to challenge the upper level cyclists as well as beginner cues to support the newer participant. Standing climbs are added but not required. Come 5 minutes early to set up bike and ask questions. Light stretching is built into class time. Wear firm soled shoes and light clothing. Bring water bottle and a small towel is handy.

On The Ball

If you’re looking for an entire body conditioning workout then this class is for you. This 60 min class combines strength training moves and heart pumping cardio all while using a stability ball. Stability balls are more than just fun to sit and bounce on, they are a great way to improve strength, cardio endurance and balance. They are also a great way to get back in to shape after an injury because they can reduce muscle and spinal strain during certain movements. By taking on basic moves such as pushups, squats and planks on an unstable surface, forces muscles to work harder all while improving balance. Come try this fun form of fitness and get on the ball with us!

Strength Stamina Stability

Strength-Stamina-Stability is a resistance training work out. Utilizing light weight dumb bells, this work out is designed to challenge all the major muscle groups by performing high repetition exercises. Burn calories and increase your metabolism while exercising to great music. Get motivated! Get lean! Get toned! Get fit!

Body Weight Balance

This class is designed to help your balance.Movement exercises for balance are performed to begin building your balance skills. We will explore moving and stationary postures in all ranges of motion. Leave this class more balanced and ready to perform sport and life activities.

BodySculpt

Join this dynamic whole body sculpting class using bodyweight exercises, free weights, bands, balls, balance and more…fitness shoes required…pre-requisites: able to get down and off the floor, cleared by physician to exercise.
